Active substance: Methandrostenolone
The main effects and Metanolon pharmacodynamics: The preparation is anabolic steroid. The preparation stimulates anabolic processes and suppresses catabolic processes. Thus the drug causes muscle growth, decreases fat deposits and affects nitrogen balance. The effects of the preparation last for 14 hours. Androgenic effects of the drug may lead to development of secondary sexual characteristics.
Proposed clinical use: The preparation is normally used in treatment of:
- Cachexy
- Protein metabolism disorders
- Chronic infections accompanied by protein loss
- Progressing muscle dystrophy
- Glucocorticoid induced myopathy
- Diabetic angiopathy
- Sexual infantilism
Occasionally used in athletes for bulking purposes.
Absolute and relative contraindications: The drug must not be used in cases of:
- Hypersensitivity to the components of the preparations or a known allergic reaction to drugs of the same class.
- Prostate gland cancer
- Mammary gland cancer in men and women with hypercalcemia
- Hypercalcemia
- Severe liver insufficiency
- Nephritis
- Pregnancy
- Glomerulonephritis
The preparation should be used with caution after a consultation with your doctor in the following conditions:
- Chronic Heart failure
- Coronary atherosclerosis
- Myocardial infraction
- Diabetes
- Prostate gland hyperplasia
- Liver failure
- Renal failure
- Lactation period
- Children and teenagers

- Anemia
- Peripheral oedema

In women:
- Masculinization
