The main effects and Anapolon pharmacodynamics:
Anapolon is an oral steroid drug, the most powerful among anabolics. Anabolic and androgenic effects are high in equal measure. Anapolon gives a very large gain in strength and muscle mass. The drug may be toxic to the liver.
Oxymetholone stimulates the production of erythropoietin (stimulator of hematopoietic function of the spinal cord), activates hematopoiesis (blood formation). Use of the drug leads to increased synthesis of hemoglobin.
Proposed clinical use:
- aplastic anemia
- refractive anemia
- myelosuppression (suppression of bone marrow) as a result of treatment with cytostatic agents or radiotherapy
- can be used by athletes for muscle gain(bulking purposes)
Absolute and relative contraindications: The drug must not be used in cases of:
- hypersensitivity to the components of the preparations or a known allergic reaction to drugs of the same class.
- liver diseases
- diabetes
- prostate carcinoma
- breast cancer in men
- nephritis
- nephrotic form of glomerulonephritis
- pregnancy, breastfeeding
- children
Possible adverse reactions: As any drug Anapolon may express specific side effects. If a side effect is stated below it will not necessarily appear during the use of the preparation. However if any of the given side effects do manifest please consult your doctor immediately. Oxymetholone adverse effects include the following:
- gynecomastia. For this reason, Anapolon must be used with anti-estrogens.
- hepatotoxicity
- virilization
- nausea, vomiting, diarrhea
- muscle cramps
- chills
- in concomitant anticoagulant therapy - bleeding
